We have made the decision to homeschool this year using Bridgeway Academy's Total Care Textbook Program. Terrance and I are both fortunate enough to be able to work from home so, luckily for us, it wasn't that difficult a decision to make. I am still unsure of how schools will work this year, but the idea of my children having to go back to school right now has terrified me. I know the schools are taking precautions. I know they intend to do everything in their power to keep kids safe. However I also know with 100% certainty that if I keep them home they will not be exposed to any child who may unknowingly have the virus at school.
I also know that removing my kids from school helps in a small way to alleviate the burden on the school system. Not everyone has the luxury of choosing how their children will be educated this year. There's nothing I can really do right now to help except give our school two less kids to worry about.
I am nervous and excited about this transition. We decided to go with the textbook curriculum because doing schoolwork online was so mentally and emotionally exhausting for all of us. I am sure Bridgeway's online courses are great, but I am thoroughly traumatized. If all goes well this year and we decide to continue homeschooling, maybe we will switch to online next year.
I don't have to much to report or review as of now, but so far we've received a warm welcome. Tomorrow I will be chatting with our Advisor, Angela, so that we can prepare for the year. She has been so attentive and helpful throughout the enrollment process, so I'm looking forward to working with her. I'll be using this space to share our homeschooling experience and reviews of Bridgeway as well as the course materials we are using to learn. I'm a total novice, so I hope by sharing my experience I can make it easier for others to learn too.
